On November 6, 2023, Wei Jingfen, Chairman of Zhong'an United Investment Group, Zhao Weimin, Professor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Hebei University of Technology and Dean of Lightweight Materials Research at Zibo University of Technology, and Xin Guangshan, Professor of Seoul National University, Academician of the Korean Academy of Engineering, and President of the Korean Magnesium Association, discussed the latest international diversified cooperation in the lightweight materials industry at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Tianjin.

Chairman Wei Jingfen introduced the restructuring of Shandong Huida vermicular graphite and the current situation of vermicular graphite casting and forging products. Professor Zhao Weimin explained the low density super steel products and technological innovation situation; Academician Xin Guangshan provides a detailed introduction to the promising new generation of lightweight magnesium alloy materials, as well as the latest market and application situation abroad. Both parties have discussed and reached a consensus to appoint Academician Xin Guangshan as the Chief Scientist of the Lightweight Research Institute of Zibo University of Technology and the Postdoctoral Cooperation Supervisor of the Sino An Joint Postdoctoral Research Workstation. Both parties plan to explore the joint development of magnesium alloy sheet industrialization. Both sides stated that they will work together to build provincial-level and national R&D platforms in Zibo and Beijing, continue to deepen industry university research cooperation, accelerate the implementation and transformation of new material technology achievements, and achieve deep integration of innovation chain, talent chain, and industry chain; Build Shandong Huida Vermicular Graphite Group into a high-end equipment and new material highland mainly composed of vermicular graphite cast iron, low-density super steel, and lightweight magnesium alloy, promoting the lightweight and intelligent high-end manufacturing industry.

Academician Xin Guangshan expressed his full support for integrating the latest advanced technology of magnesium materials with the casting industry of Huida Company, promoting the development of the magnesium material industry, and happily accepted the invitation to conduct on-site inspections of Shandong Huida Vermicular Ink Equipment Co., Ltd. and Zibo University of Technology Lightweight Research Institute in the near future. Professor Yu Hui, Director of the Molding Department at the School of Materials Science and Technology of Hebei University of Technology, and Associate Professor Wang Zhifeng participated in the event.
